ਤੀਜੈ ਪਹਰੈ ਰੈਣਿ ਕੈ ਵਣਜਾਰਿਆ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਬਿਖੁ ਸੰਚੈ ਅੰਧੁ ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ॥
Theejai Peharai Rain Kai Vanajaariaa Mithraa Bikh Sanchai Andhh Agiaan ||
तीजै पहरै रैणि कै वणजारिआ मित्रा बिखु संचै अंधु अगिआनु ॥
In the third watch of the night, O my merchant friend! the blind, ignorant fellow amasses poison.
ਰਾਤ ਦੇ ਤੀਸਰੇ ਹਿਸੇ ਅੰਦਰ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੁਦਾਗਰ ਬੇਲੀਆਂ! ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਬੇਸਮਝ ਬੰਦਾ ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਇਕੱਤ੍ਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪੁਤ੍ਰਿ ਕਲਤ੍ਰਿ ਮੋਹਿ ਲਪਟਿਆ ਵਣਜਾਰਿਆ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਲਹਰਿ ਲੋਭਾਨੁ ॥
Puthr Kalathr Mohi Lapattiaa Vanajaariaa Mithraa Anthar Lehar Lobhaan ||
पुत्रि कलत्रि मोहि लपटिआ वणजारिआ मित्रा अंतरि लहरि लोभानु ॥
He is entangled in the love of his sons and wife, O my merchant friend! and in his heart rage the currents of avarice.
ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਾਂ ਤੇ ਪਤਨੀ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਫਸਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਹੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੁਦਾਗਰ ਬੇਲੀਆ! ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਲਾਲਚ ਦੀਆਂ ਛੱਲਾਂ ਠਾਠਾਂ ਮਾਰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
